Brain injury rehabilitation services

Partnerships in Care (PiC) started delivering a rehabilitation service for survivors of acquired brain injury 25 years ago and remains at the forefront in providing a hugely successful rehabilitation programme for people with complex neuro behavioural presentations following traumatic or acquired brain injury and delivering real and lasting results.  Our pathway comprises of two specialist services – BIS Essex (Elm Park and our Community Housing in Essex) and BIS Northants (Grafton Manor and our Community Housing in Northampton).

Treatment programmes

Our rehabilitation programmes are based on a philosophy of achieving optimal pre-injury potential in terms of functional recovery, emotional health and cognitive capacity. They are complimented by our commitment to offer every individual the chance to be immeasurably enriched through our key therapy frameworks.

Our multidisciplinary team has been extended and includes experienced practitioners with a wealth of experience. Together the team presents an incomparable programme that addresses the multi facets of functional competence in a responsive and reactive structured daily programme.

Upon admission the team works collaboratively with all external agencies to formulate appropriate care pathways that ensure increasing independence. Also that skill attainment achieved is transferred safely and in a sustainable manner to the home,  community and workplace, upholding PiC’s philosophy of empowerment and recovery.

Research performed at PiC shows that the brain injury rehabilitation trajectory implemented by PiC results in a positive and continued change to peoples lives for more than 70% of our cohort – most of whom are admitted with extensive injuries and complex needs.

Additional support

Both services offer the option of an extended pathway that can facilitate the progression of the rehabilitation programme into one of  four specialist community houses based in the areas of Essex and Northampton. Our holistic approach to rehabilitation extends into each locality to provide full and positive community inclusion and supported living at the individual's pace.
