PiC hospitals - the first UK hospitals to receive the
RAID® Centre of Excellence Award

PiC The Spinney and PiC Kemple View, 24 March 2011
Staff from The Spinney & Kemple View receive their RAID
awards from Will Davies, Director, Association of Psychological
Therapies (APT)
Partnerships in Care (PiC) is the first healthcare provider to get
whole hospital recognition for the RAID® Centre of
Excellence Award from the Association of Psychological Therapies
(APT).
PiC The Spinney and PiC Kemple View have
received the award from APT for successful training and
implementation of this highly respected approach to staff/patient
interventions in secure care.
RAID® (which stands for Reinforce
Appropriate, Implode Disruptive) is a comprehensive approach which
teaches staff a philosophy and practice not only to deal with
challenging behaviour when it occurs, but also to prevent it by
tackling it at source. It is widely recognised as the industry
standard for setting and reinforcing positive behaviours.
On receiving the award, Kate Bailey, Head of
Psychology, PiC North West said:
“The
RAID® approach helps secure hospitals such as Kemple
View and The Spinney achieve a relentlessly positive and empowering
approach; this ties in well with the Recovery Model that
Partnerships in Care embraces. At PiC hospitals, the focus on
empowerment of patients as well as staff is key to ensure
successful outcomes”
APT Director, Will Davies, said:
“PiC has earned the RAID® award due
to the high quality of its training. The positive feedback from
staff and successful case studies prove that staff have clearly
achieved successful implementation of this approach.
“We believe that if an organisation is
teaching and implementing the RAID principles to the greatest
extent possible, then they are worthy of being classified as a
centre of excellence. Few providers in the UK have yet to achieve
such impressive results.”
