The Group has produced a very strong financial
performance in the 2009 financial year. Our focus on operational
performance has led to a more co-ordinated approach to care across
the group with centralised referral and admissions processes and
standardised nursing practices across all hospitals.
PIC has continued to invest in its staff and
facilities. During the year, the Group has made a number of high
profile appointments, including a Corporate Director of Nursing.
These appointments will help strengthen the Group by providing
strong corporate leadership to our hospitals. In October 2009, PiC
opened Hazelwood House, our newest facility. This low secure unit
extends the Group’s care pathway for male patients in the
Midlands.
Fred Sinclair-Brown, Group Chief Executive of
PIC, commented: “In the five years since PiC became an independent
company our strategy has been to develop the UK’s most
comprehensive secure mental healthcare network, operated to the
highest standards. We are meeting our objectives and the outlook
remains very positive.
“We are the market leader in a high growth
market; our developments and focus during 2009 have enabled us to
become more efficient and as a result our performance will further
improve despite the expected reductions in Government spending. We
continue to offer outstanding care, positive patient outcomes and
value for money and we are well positioned to continue to develop
high quality specialist psychiatric care and growth over the coming
years.
“2009 was a year of excellent performance
across Partnerships in Care. We continue to strengthen our position
as the country’s leading independent provider of high quality
secure mental healthcare and look forward with optimism to playing
our part in meeting some of the commitments of the new coalition
government.”
