Biographies
Myles M Paterson, MA (Law), Dip IM, Cert. Mgmt, RMN, RGN,
MHSM
Regional Executive Director
Myles Paterson is the Partnerships in Care Regional Executive
Director for the North East of England and the Registered Manager
for Stockton Hall Hospital. Having worked in the healthcare sector
for twenty-seven years, Myles has specialised in the management of
medium secure forensic services for twenty-one years.
Previous appointments include Executive Director of Stockton
Hall Hospital and Director of Nursing Services at Kneesworth House
Hospital (1988-1992). Myles has been involved in the commissioning
of services at Kneesworth House Hospital, St Johns and Stockton
Hall Hospital. From 2003-2006 he was Responsible Individual for The
Spinney Hospital, Kemple View Hospital, Stockton Hall Hospital and
PIC Women's Mental Health Services. He holds a Masters Degree in
Law, a Diploma in Management and is registered with the NMC in both
categories of General and Mental Health practice.
Hugh Hill
Hospital Manager
Qualified as an RMN in 1986 Hugh developed, managed and led both
primary care and specialist integrated care management teams south
of the border. Before joining PiC, Hugh worked with SAMH as their
Director of Services and Planning leading on the development of
over 80 new and existing services across Scotland. Hugh holds
diplomas in Counselling and Psychosocial Interventions (Thorn
Nurse) and has a Masters in Business Administration.
Dr Douglas Gray
Medical Director
Doug studied Medicine at Newcastle University where he obtained
the degrees of Bachelor of medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.
Following a research career at Kings College and the Royal Free
Hospital London, Doug completed triple higher professional training
in General practice, General Adult and Forensic Psychiatry. Doug is
currently a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at the State Hospital,
Carstairs and Medical director at the Ayr Clinic.
Elaine Forbes
Administration Manager
Elaine has worked at the Ayr Clinic since the unit opened in May
2004, contributing towards the clinic gaining registration with
regulatory bodies, staff recruitment, marketing, and the
implementation of policies and procedures. Elaine is currently
responsible for the administration of the Mental Health (Care &
Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 and is the point of contact for all
referrals to the clinic.
Jean McQueen
Head of Occupational Therapy
Jean holds a BSc in occupational therapy, a Masters Degree in
Health Education and Health Promotion, a Professional Diploma in
Dementia Care and is studying for a research- based doctorate. Jean
is the lead author on the Cochrane review entitled 'Brief
interventions for heavy alcohol drinkers admitted to general
hospital. Jean has served as an elected member on the research and
development board at the College of OTs, with papers published in
both the British Journal of OT and the International Journal of
Therapy and Rehabilitation.
Colin Adams
Senior Nurse Manager
Colin has been working in the mental health arena for the last
20 years. He originally trained as a psychiatric nurse in South
East Glasgow During this time he completed SNB Professional Studies
and was seconded to Lothian College of Nursing and Midwifery to
complete SNB Professional Studies 2 in the Resettlement of Patients
with Psychiatric Disorders. He trained with the Institute of Group
Analysis in their foundation course in Group Psychotherapy. He then
returned to a practitioner role by securing a post as a Team Leader
at the Ayr Clinic in 2004. In 2006 he was promoted to the post of
Nurse Manager at the unit and has remained a pivotal part of the
Senior Management Team since.
Michelle Gilluley
Head of Psychological Services
Michelle commenced her position as Head of Psychology/Clinical
Lead at the Ayr Clinic in January 2009. Michelle is a Chartered
Forensic Psychologist who had worked for many years in the Prison
Service, firstly within the Scottish Prison Service from 1998 until
moving to Scotland's first private sector prison at HMP Kilmarnock
where she held the post of Head of Psychology. Michelle maintains
Consultant Forensic Psychologist roles at HMP Kilmarnock for an
independent psychology service based in Manchester and provides
assessments for the Child and Family Court proceedings.
