Mike Bennett
Regional Executive Director, North West & Midlands
Regions
Mike joined PiC in 1988 and has had
various clinical and managerial roles during this time.
He returned to his native North West
region in 1998 to commission and develop The Spinney, which was one
of the organisations new facilities in the region at that
time.
He has overseen significant financial
investment in the region as the company has developed services to
meet local need.
His inclusive style has forged
partnerships with colleagues and services within both the public
and independent sector, providing representation on workforce
development groups and the regions secure catchment
group.
Since 2006 Mike has been the regional
lead for the North West region and most recently he has taken over
the regional lead for the Midlands Region, identifying
further care pathways.
Dr Pete Snowden
Medical Director
Pete studied medicine at the University of Liverpool. After
degrees in biochemistry and medicine he went on to train in
psychiatry and then forensic psychiatry.
His first consultant post was in Salford, Manchester where he
worked as a forensic consultant in a medium secure unit for 17
years, and in the latter years was Medical Director. In the late
1990s he was appointed to the Advisory Board on Restricted
Patients, by the Home Office Minister. In 2000 he moved to Ashworth
Hospital as Clinical Director to lead a recovery strategy for the
PD service there, which was the subject of the Fallon Inquiry.
During this period he was the clinical lead for the Department of
Health project which resulted in the publication of Personality
Disorder: no longer a diagnosis of exclusion. Between 2004 and 2006
he was employed as an Associate Director at the National Clinical
Advisory Service, a division of the National Patient Safety
Agency.
Over the years Pete has held a number of positions in the Royal
College of Psychiatrists, and was the nationally elected chair of
the Forensic Psychiatry Faculty. In 2006 he was appointed as
Associate Registrar to lead the development of the Psychiatrists
Support Service.
Pete joined Partnerships in Care in the Midlands in 2008 where
he took up the post of Medical Director and Clinical Governance
Lead. In 2010 he was appointed to the Quality Network Advisory
Group for a three year term.
Pete has continued to publish in learned journals and in
contributions to chapters in textbooks of Forensic Psychiatry.
John Chapman
Director of Operations
John was a civil servant with the Department of Health for 22
years before joining the Special Hospitals Service Authority. He
then became Director of Corporate Planning at Rampton Special
Hospital. Immediately before joining PiC in 2004 he was
self-employed running a small business and consultancy services for
the NHS.
John is a member of the PiC Midlands Senior Management Team and
has responsibility within PiC Midlands for estate management, hotel
services, security and risk, including Health and Safety.
