Phil Huckle
Regional Executive Director, Wales & The West
Dr Phil Huckle was appointed as regional executive and medical
director for PiC Wales and the West region in June 2009. He has
worked for the organisation as medical director in this region
since December 1998. Prior to his employment with PiC he was a
consultant forensic psychiatrist at the Caswell clinic, the NHS
medium secure unit in South Wales.He trained at the Welsh National
school of medicine and then trained in general psychiatry in South
Glamorgan before becoming the first Senior registrar in forensic
psychiatry trained at the Caswell clinic. He has an MBA through the
Open university and is also studying for a law degree with the same
organisation. In 2008, he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal
College of Psychiatrists. In addition to his senior management role
he has a case load of 20 in-patients in the female service at
Llanarth court hospital. He is also a part time medical member of
the MHRT for Wales and a SOAD doctor appointed by HIW. Phil chairs
the senior management team in this region and also line manages the
medical department of the hospital.He has a key role in the
marketing of the range of specialised services offered at Llanarth
court hospital, Aderyn and Abbey house
Paul Hendey
Acting Unit Manager
Paul qualified as a Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) in December
1981. After gaining experience in a range of clinical settings in
the NHS he joined PiC in June, 1987.
At PiC he has gained considerable experience, in both direct
care and managerial positions. In 1992 he was part of the
commissioning team for Llanarth Court Hospital in South Wales, and
played a key role in the initial registration process and ultimate
development of that service.
After initially operating as the Director of Nursing at Llanarth
Court, he changed roles in the summer of 2002 becoming the Clinical
Governance lead for the region. He has been Acting Unit Manager at
Abbey House since March 2010. He retains Clinical Governance
responsibilities for the Region, and is a member of the Regional
Senior Management Team. Since 2009 he has been a lead peer reviewer
for the Quality Network for Forensic Mental Health Services.
Keith Barry MSc, RMN
Director of Nursing
Keith joined Partnerships in September 1994. He began as a Nurse
Consultant in dual diagnosis at Llanarth Court before he was
appointed the role of Director of Nursing.
Previously, Keith has worked as a Community Psychiatric Nurse in
adult mental health and also as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in
mental health and CBT.
Keith has an MSc in Applied Social Learning Theory and
Counselling. He is also an Honorary Lecturer at Birmingham
University and a peer reviewer for Healthcare Inspectorate
Wales.
