Natasha Cumberland
North London Clinic
Occupational Therapist
I wanted to build a career in secure settings and I was
particularly interested in working in forensic mental health.
Partnerships in Care was everything I was looking for and more.
I’ve had the opportunity to develop the Occupational Therapy
service; it now has a more therapeutic approach to
interventions.
I get to develop new initiatives. For example, I’ve been
involved in the newsletter, developed with our residents. This is a
great communication tool, allowing staff and residents to work
together in sharing information about our community.
I’ve already had experience working in the mental health
services, however, this is different and in many ways, more
challenging. And I really believe that the bigger the challenge,
the greater the reward.
I’ve been afforded the opportunity to attend all different kinds
of training and conferences, contributing to the skills knowledge
of my team and my own continual professional development.
There’s also a personal feel to our work, meaning I’m in close
contact with our hospital director and senior management. All of
which allows me to produce a better service to our residents.
