Social work
If you want to play a key role in contributing to patient
recovery then social work at PiC is for you. We have around 35
social workers across our hospitals, and we take their personal and
professional development very seriously.
You won’t be dealing with huge caseloads here – we’re far more
interested in seeing you develop the kind of rewarding,
constructive patient relationships which can only come when you’re
given the space to dedicate time to them. As part of a
multi-disciplinary patient team, social workers at PiC are
encouraged to develop their therapeutic skills; to be the key link
between the hospital and the local community; and to engage in the
aftercare of patients. Your opinions and assessment of risk will be
crucial in helping our patients, some of whom are very ill, to move
along the care pathway to recovery.
The work can be pressured, but the chance to make a real
difference to the lives of those you’ll be working with will mean
you’ll always be remembered. And we’ll support your learning and
development every step of the way, providing you with the kind of
environment where you can really refine and hone your skills.
