The Dene
Provides Mental Illness, Personality Disorder and/or
Learning Disability & Acute services for men and women
The Dene provides medium, low & acute secure
level assessment and therapeutic programmes for men and women with
mental illness, personality disorders and/or mild learning
disabilities.
The service admits patients who, by the nature of their mental
disorder and risk behaviours, are deemed to require care and
treatment either in the medium, low secure or acute services
provided by The Dene.
The hospital is set in 11 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside
with good transport links to London. There are extensive
educational, occupational and sporting facilities, the latter
including: a sports hall, a tennis court and a gymnasium, along
with various communal recreation areas. Creative activities are
available in a purpose built art room and workshop, and patients
have use of two practice kitchens. There is also a patient library
which enables the patients to participate in a basic skills
programme with the education team.
Patient groups
At The Dene we offer care to men and women with mental
illness, personality disorder, mild learning disability, histories
of offending, substance misuse problems and trauma or any
combination of any of these difficulties.
